MICHAEL A. KLAPER
Michael A. Klaper, M.D. is a graduate of the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago. He received postgraduate training in internal medicine, surgery, anesthesiology, and orthopedics at University of British Columbia teaching hospitals in Vancouver and obstetrics at the University of California at San Francisco. He has practiced acute care medicine in Hawaii, Canada, California, Florida and New Zealand. Far more fulfilling to him is his current practice, focusing on health-promoting food and lifestyle choices to help people prevent the need for hospitalization and surgery. A long-time radio host and a pilot, Dr. Klaper has served as nutrition advisor to NASA’s programs for space colonists on the Moon and Mars. Genesis Butler went vegan at the age of six and convinced her whole family to go vegan. Genesis has taken part in hundreds of demos and marches against industries that exploit animals such as circuses, rodeos, and amusement parks. She became the youngest TEDx speaker when she delivered her speech entitled, “A 10 Year Old’s Vision for Healing the Planet”, where she discusses animal agriculture and the negative impact it has on the planet. Genesis recently founded her nonprofit organization, Genesis for Animals, which raises funds for sanctuaries around the world. She is featured in several documentaries including The Invisible Vegan, Vegan: Everyday Stories, and Corky. She is also featured in Cesar Chavez Respect for All where she learns about the activism of her great uncle, Cesar Chavez. Genesis Butler has won several awards for her activism including the 2018 Lisa Shapiro Youth Animal Activist of the Year. Genesis speaks regularly at both vegan and non-vegan events about the benefits of veganism and the importance of having compassion for all species.

VeganEvan is a passionate and talented young animal advocate committed to creating a healthy, compassionate, and regenerative world. He is a Co-president & Spokesperson for Animal Hero Kids and a spokesperson for the Solutionary Species movement. VeganEvan has spoken in front of large audiences at several major events throughout the country including the What the Health-Cowspiracy Conference, Central Florida Earth Day, the Animal Liberation Conference, Tampa Bay VegFest, the National Animal Rights Conference, Asheville VeganFest and many more!! He has been awarded the Russell Simmons Creative Animal Hero Kids Award, and in 2016, he earned PETA’s Cutest Vegan Kid award. More recently he was awarded the Shining World Leadership Award for Compassion from the Supreme Master Ching Hai Association. VeganEvan is a voice for the animals everywhere he goes! He does as many types of activism as possible, because people are reached in different ways. Evan enjoys leafleting, protesting, doing marches, Open Rescue, disruptions, and making videos and rap songs! He also participates in Anonymous for the Voiceless Cubes of Truth and Vigils with the Save Movement wherever he travels. DR. IRMINNE VAN DYKEN, MD
General Surgeon, Kaiser Permanente
Born in the Netherlands and raised in Montana, Dr. Irminne Van Dyken is a general and trauma surgeon in practice with Kaiser Permanente Medical Group on Maui. She is a member of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine, the American College of Surgeons, the American Society of Breast Surgeons, and the Society of Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons. Dr. Van Dyken is a passionate advocate of a whole foods, plant-based diet, seeing it as a way to prevent and treat many common maladies in Hawaii and the world. She also serves on the board for the Vegetarian Society of Hawaii. She and her husband Russell created “Out of the Doldrums” – online resources promoting healthy, active, plant based living (on Instagram, Facebook and YouTube).
