TAIMANE

Ukulele – from classical to rock to flamenco

Taimane translates to diamond from Samoan and perfectly reflects the different facets of her nature. Whether delicately finger-picking through Bach or radically ripping through Led Zeppelin, Taimane has the ability to morph genres – from classical to rock to flamenco – and stretch her instrument far beyond the familiar melodies of Hawai`i, where she grew up.  taimane.com

Paul Izak’s potent music embodies the spirit of VegFest Oahu and he is gracious to return again to our Music Stage. A singer/songwriter and farmer in the back roads of Waimanalo, his songs reflect his love for the land and life. He is co-founder of Yogarden whose mission is to educate the community in the importance of growing your own food and living a healthy, sustainable lifestyle. They have volunteer days on Thursdays and special events.

Tavana is a one-man band from Honolulu, HI who uses electronic drum triggers to lay down a variety of grooves with his feet to accompany himself while playing guitar and singing soulful, island-inspired Rock and Blues. Tavana has performed and recorded with Eddie Vedder from Pearl Jam, Henry Kapono, John Cruz, and Leon Mobley (Ben Harper & the Innocent Criminals), and has been the supporting act for Alabama Shakes, Shakey Graves, Xavier Rudd, Jenny Lewis, Julian Marley, and Kaleo to name just a few. His 4th album, ‘Aloha Spirit’ was recently nominated for a Na Hoku Hano Hano Award for Best Contemporary Album of the Year. Tavana is on tour this Summer excitedly sharing his musical aloha on the US Mainland, Japan, and Canada.  www.tavana808.com

Hook + Line

Acoustic Rhythm and Blues

Hook + Line is the brain child of Jacob Staron with his partner Mahree. Jacob is a multi-faceted, musically trained artist who is also the cellist/guitar player for Taimane and mandolin player for The Infamous Bourbon Boys. The Americana Project features rotating guest musicians and loves taking the audience through a journey of modern and classic homegrown tunes. With no fancy effects, it’s all about great songs, energetically delivered with heart and harmony. They feature an ever changing lineup of guitar, blues harp, fiddle, upright bass and customized cajon that’s topped off with vocal harmonies. All these elements come together to create a unique Americana experience. Follow them on Facebook and Instagram for upcoming events.
